I've always had a passion for make-up. I have memories from when I was little of watching my mom get ready and I was very fascinated by it. I started observing how celebrities' faces were done as a young teenager. I would attempt to re-create their looks and the latest trends on myself and my friends when I noticed that doing make-up came pretty easily to me. I also paid a lot of attention when reading magazines or watching movies and television.
What's your educational background? Have you ever considered pursuing something outside of make-up, or have you always known this is what you wanted to do?
I recently graduated from Makeup Designory in Burbank. I am now officially a certified make-up artist and hair stylist! I have considered pursuing photography because I am also pretty passionate about that, but I mainly view that as a hobby and make-up artistry as my first priority.
My dream job is to do make-up all around the world. I would love to do make-up for runway shows and have the opportunity to see and explore other countries.
What are your favorite make-up styles to do?
I enjoy how personal weddings are. I have met some pretty amazing people through wedding parties and it's always a great experience to be a part of their big day. I would have to say that my favorite make-up style is avant garde. I love being creative and trying new things with different colors and textures.
Your favorite make-up job so far?
My favorite make-up job that I've done so far would have to be our "Seven Deadly Sins" photoshoot! Such a long day, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't really have any crazy expectations or preconcieved ideas about how I wanted to do the make-up for each "sin", and that's what made it so fun and spontaneous. I love fast-paced environments where I'm forced to think quickly. It's exciting!
What inspires your designs?
The color wheel, of course...which colors compliment each other. Nature inspires me a lot when it comes to different textures.
Who are your make-up artist idols?
Alex Box, Bobbi Brown, Dany Sanz, and Kevyn Aucoin.
Now, for the serious stuff:
You're trapped on a desert island. You're allowed to bring five things; what are they?
Tanning lotion, a towel, a knife, Burt's Bees, and deodorant, probably...I'd consider them necessities.
You can find Alex on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. She's one of the best Instagram-ers I know, and I still have no idea how she takes half of the photos she posts on there.
Thank you again, Alex, for letting me briefly interrogate you! Stay tuned, readers - more exciting things to come from this talented lady!
