Last Friday night, I grabbed my camera, put on my tallest purple velvet booties [still the shortest person], and drove down the coastline to Santa Barbara. I'm going to branch off for a moment, and say that if you are not a native Californian, or if you are, but just don't head west or get out much in general, you need to experience driving down the coast at least once in your life. I've done it literally [I'm using 'literally' as its meant to be used - no exaggeration here] hundreds of times, and it's still my favorite drive. Once I passed all the lit up boats and oil rigs on the Pacific and made my way to the exit, I picked up my friend Caitlin and her boyfriend Brad from their house in Goleta, and then hopped back on the road and headed downtown, to a place called Muddy Waters. We were soon to be witness to my boyfriend Christopher playing a seriously great show with fellow local musicians Mic, Bryce, and Randall; Caitlin described the sound as being a blend of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arcade Fire, and I was thinking M. Ward meets U2. Either way, can we all agree that any combination of those is amazing?
